Student Welfare Schemes

The institution is extremely proud of its well equipped, perfect and unique enabling unit-‘Chethana’-
the one and only of its kind among government colleges in Karnataka.  This unit is playing a dual
role of empowering   the visually and physically challenged students to face the real life challenges
and competition from the main stream educational system, and sensitize the administration, students,
alumni and community at  large towards the special  needs of these students.  It also extends its
service to create employability by providing soft skill training to them and instills confidence and
adds dignity to their life.
 Students Counseling Centre "Sumana":

The counselling cell Sumana provides counselling services to the students. Sumana believes in the fact that sound mind dwells in the sound body. Most of the students who come to our college belong to lower economic strata,broken families where girls are given less privilege. To support such students and to make them realise their goals, Sumana was established in the year 2001.Sumana aims at the all round development of our students,it conducts various programmes related to the stress management, health problems and many more.

Placement Cell :
Extends its service to the students in career guidance, organizes lectures concerning career planning and invites companies for campus recruitment.
Tutor Ward System:
This system places about 50 students under each teacher who takes care and monitors the academic and psychological needs of their wards. The teacher is in constant touch with the students and monitors the students. Many times students are referred to trained student counsellors for further action.

Grievance Redressal Cell:
It is a mechanism to deal with the specific problems and grievances of the students. The students can register their grievances in writing. The teacher in charge of the cell along with the Principal attends to the grievance of the students. Suggestions are also invited from students and a separate suggestion box is kept for the purpose.
The ive of the Grievance Cell is to develop a responsive and accountable attitude among all the stakeholders in order to maintain a harmonious educational atmosphere in the college.

Women Empowerment Cell:
Women Empowerment cell is an active cell in the college since 2011 to empower girl students, to enhance understanding of issues related to women and to make the college campus a safe place for girl students and faculty members. The cell aims at creating awareness of their rights and duties. It also provides a platform for women to share their experiences and views regarding their status in the society and to suggest ways to improve and empower themselves. The cell stands for facilitating women’s empowerment through guest lectures, seminars, awareness programmes and other welfare activities.

Disciplinary Committee:
The Disciplinary Committee was created to resolve complaints of alleged violations of policies and community standards by a student or former student. The Committee holds the power to hear cases and to decide the appropriate response, including expulsion, and revocation of degree. The members of the committee ensure that the students attend the classes regularly and behave in a disciplined manner in the campus. The committee comprises of senior teachers and senior student representatives.

Anti-Ragging Cell:
Anti Ragging Committee consists of senior faculty and is headed by the Principal. The Committee has taken appropriate steps and allotted duties to all the staff members at almost all areas in the college (i.e. parking places, different blocks, play grounds etc.) to ensure that at least one faculty member will be present at any particular time at all the locations to avoid ragging activities. Wide canvassing about anti-ragging is being done.

 Cultural Committee:

The Cultural Committee of our college boosts the cultural diversity in the campus by creating a folk environment through DESI HABBA to revive folk games, songs and dance. The committee conducts inter college poetry competition and reputed poets are invited to participate and guide our students in that discipline. The committee celebrates national festivals and promotes patriotism. Annual day celebrations create a platform to all the students to exhibit their inherent talents.

National service scheme : NSS is a part of co-curricular activity. The NSS wing of our college has student strength of 100, with a trained programme officer. NSS organizes weekly “shramadhan” programme and a ten days annual camp is organized every year to motivate them in the service orientation towards the society.

National Cadet Corps has a wing in our college under 1KAR BN NCC. It has strength of 80 cadets who are trained every week. They are sent to several camps which help them to boost their confidence and self discipline.

Literary Club:
The Literary club aims at fostering a love for books and literature in students and promoting literary activities in the college. The wide spectrum of literary activities undertaken by the club includes book discussions, interaction with authors, literary quiz, visit to book fairs and libraries, screening of films based on novels and famous books and many more competitions conducted to nourish the literature skills in students.

Theatre Club: Run by the Department of Kannada is a very popular forum. Students are trained in acting, miming, dialogue delivery, body language and voice modulation. Regular rehearsals are conducted everyday under the guidance of a professional director.

Press Club: Run by the department of Journalism, aims to train students in reporting , editing, photography and other skills of journalism. The club conducts special lectures and workshops for the students. Brings out a monthly newsletter reporting the college activities.

Eco Club
Eco Club plays an important role in creating environmental awareness amongst the future generation The activities under the scheme include:

Motivating the students to keep their surroundings green and clean by undertaking plantation of trees. Sensitizing the students to minimize the use of plastic bags, not to throw them in public places. Organizing tree plantation programmes, awareness programmes such as Quiz, essay, painting competitions, etc. regarding various environmental issues and educate children about re-use of waste material & preparation of products out of waste

Heritage Club
The Heritage Club run by the department of History, arranges study tours to excavation sites, conducts technical classes, power point presentations and seminars to create awareness about the rich culture and tradition of our land. The club aims at bringing the history curriculum alive for students through active learning. 


 Humanities forum of the college is a platform for Inter and multidisciplinary interaction of all humanities. It organizes special programmes for all students and faculty by inviting resource persons with rich theoretical and practical experience. The forum exposes the students to the contemporary issues to supplement the curriculum and provides a wide canvas for discussion and deliberations. 

Commerce and Management forum has been established in the year 2011. In the department of Commerce and Management various student empowerment programs are organized to enhance the abilities of the students keeping in mind the corporate job requirements. The forum organizes Commerce and Management fest every year inviting students from several colleges, forum also conducts special lecturers, awareness programs to update the knowledge among the students. The aim of the forum is to mould our students to be suitable for corporate world.


Science forum was established in 2010, since the forum has been conducting various programmes on science and technology and also science related issues. The science forum aims at improving and encouraging scientific thinking and to promote better understanding of various concepts of science among the students. Science forum believe in the fact that society with the scientific temper will progress.

Science forum conducts lecturers on various topics on science.  Intra & Inter collegiate competitions are held among the students in science subjects to bring out the best talents in students. 


Kannada angha of our college is a very active forum, every year the forum organizes several meaningful programmes such as story telling, poetry writing, creative writing and many more. The forum puts lots of efforts to include the Indian culture among the students.
