Abstract

Jatropha Curca is most important amongst Tree Borne Oilseeds(TBO) and has high potential to grow in wasteland.  Crude Jatropha oil is high in acid, it has the tendency to degrade quickly under normal storage conditions. Studies were conducted with different storage conditions and using different antioxidants to prevent/prolong oxidation. It could be shown that it is possible to keep peroxide value of oil less than 0.60 for over 2 months without adding any antioxidants but just maintaining appropriate storage conditions. It was also showed that it is possible to keep peroxide value of the oil below 0.60  by adding some antioxidants with as low concentration as 25ppm Studies also included experiments with traditionally used antioxidants like clove oil.
