About SWAYAM-NPTEL
SWAYAM (Study Webs of Active-Learning for Young Aspiring Minds) is an Indian Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) Platform. Courses delivered through SWAYAM are available free of cost to the learners, however learners wanting a SWAYAM certificate should register for the final proctored exams that come at a fee and attend in-person at designated centres on specified dates.
NPTEL (National Programme on Technology Enhanced Learning) is a project of Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India initiated by 7 IITs along with the IISc, Bangalore in 2003, to provide quality education to anyone interested in learning from the IITs.
Dr G Shankar Government Women’s First Grade College and PG Study Centre, Ajjarkadu, Udupi was recognized as SWAYAM-NPTEL Local Chapter in December 2018. Dr. Chandrashekara B.M., Assistant Professor of Mathematics, whose initiative has been instrumental in establishing the Local Chapter in the college, has been nominated as the Single Point of Contact (SPOC).
