The Department of Economics was established in the year 2014-15 in Government First Grade Women’s College, Tumkur. The undergraduate Programme in Economics offers a sound knowledge of the theoretical and applied aspects of Economics.

The students of the department have also been involved in various activities, both in the college and outside. Many students have held important posts in the college student’s union and have often figured in the Principal's Honour Role on the College Day. The students of the department of Economics have presented their views in the College.

Imparting theoretical and applied knowledge of Economics, conducting research on socio-economic problems at regional and national level for inclusive development.

Mission:

The mission of the Deportment of Economics consists of two interconnected components; imparting the highest quality instruction to our undergraduate and graduate students and to train students in the methods and ideas of modern theoretical and applied economics. To prepare students for acquiring applied knowledge of Economics to enhance their Employability and Entrepreneurship.
