INTRODUCTORY NOTE
The Smt Honnuramma Late M.Siddappa Government First Grade College Tekkalakote was established on 28-5-2007 when Shri Basappa P. Hurukadle reported for duty as the very first Principal.In inception, there was only 24 Students in Arts Faculty. Further, in the very next year,i.e., in the Academic Year -2008-09, the Commerce Faculty was introduced with a strength of 7 students. The classes were run under the roof of the Primary School at Fort area of Tekkalakote Headquarters. The college was shifted to its own Building on 21-12-2011 outskirt area which is 2.5 K.m. away from Tekkalakote Headquarters. It was the second Government Degree college in Siruguppa Taluk .Under the able guidance and administration of various Principals, the number of students rose gradually. At present, the college has strength of 234 students comprising of 189 students in the Arts and 45 students Commerce Faculties in 2020-21.
The College has easy access from Bellary to Siruguppa as it is just 40 K.M. away from Bellary and 15 K.M. from Siruguppa Headquarters. The college can be reached by Road in just 30 Minutes from Siruguppa Taluk Headquarters. The college is the pioneer of under-graduation since its inception, the college had been organizing itself an value based educational principles. Therefore, the College aims at bringing about the intellectual awakening of the people in and around Tekkalakote. It also aims at preparing manpower which will enable them to contribute efficiently towards the economic development of the Nation in general and Tekkalakote in particular.
