About the College:
Government First Grade Women’s College, Shivamogga is located in the heart of Shivamogga city, operating from the Main Middle School Building in B.H. Road. Catering to the academic interests of the rural girl students from economically weaker sections of the society, the college is trying its best to empower these students to engage with realities of the contemporary world successfully.
The college offers undergraduate education in the streams of Arts (B.A.) and Commerce (B.Com). Bachelor of Arts has the combinations of History, Economics and Political Science (HEP) and History, Economics and Sociology (HES) and compulsory subjects in B.Com.
The college began functioning from the academic year 2014-15 with 111 students. Over a period of six years, the student strength has gone up to around 300. The strength will definitely improve if the college starts functioning from an independent,own building. Efforts are being made to have the building constructed in the 5 acre plot allotted for the purpose at the earliest.
The institution facilitates quality education for the students through young, experienced and motivating teaching faculty. The dedicated non-teaching staff members assist students to get best of government services like scholarship, hostel, buspass facilities including many others.
In the years to come, the college wishes to be one of the most sought after government institutions in the region for quality education. It envisages a bright and prosperous future for its students who will play the role of responsible citizens of this nation.
The ultimate goal of the college is to see every girl lead a healthy and happy life with equal opportunities and a quality of life that can be termed BEST.
