About Us

The Government First Grade, Shikaripura was established in 1980-81 with the main intention of making degree education accessible to the students of Shikaripura taluk. Shikaripura is a place with a unique historical importance in Karnataka state. It is at present a taluk head quarter in Shimoga distrkict which is known for its invaluable contribution to the promotion of culture and heritage of Karnataka state.

The college which was started only with B.A and B.Com courses has been making steady progress both at the level of curriculum and infrastructure. At present we have many streams and combinations in Arts ,Commerce and Science with sufficient infrastructure facilities. In addition to these and under graduate courses our college has got the previlage of running two P.G courses one in Economics and other in Kannada since 2010-11.

The institution came to be recognized under section 2(f) in 2001 and 12(b) of the UGC  act in 2003. The college has undergone the process of  NAAC Accrediation  II cycle in 2013 and has got B grade . 

There are about hundred members in the teaching staff who have been making all the effort to achieve academic excelence in their respective areas. They are trying to bring about all round development of the students. Thus our institution is striving hard to materialize the dream of its founders by imparting quality education to the pupil of Shikaripura taluk.
