About the Department

B Com –Tourism course was started from the academic year 2018-19 with a new dynamic vision “Creating new avenues through Tourism course”. More importance is given on the need for identifying the student’s expectations and society’s need. Faculty of tourism aims at constructing strategies, processes, capabilities and appropriate performance measures to realize the vision. The department organizes several seminars, group discussions, exhibitions and workshops to expose the students to the latest developments in the field of travel and tourism’s

With respect to students, the focus was to introduce new teaching methodology that would engage them more thoroughly and enhance their learning experience. Many students–centric initiatives were introduced.  Groups were made blending a mix of gender, learning abilities, language and region. Through the Mentoring system student’s attendance is continuously monitored by all class teachers which reflected in their attendance percentages and performance in examinations.

The faculties are regularly involved in research activities, attending seminars, presenting research articles to enhance knowledge and these platforms provide professional and intellectual development of faculties. The faculties consistently encourage the tourism students to take part in sports, NSS, NCC, cultural activities and other extracurricular activities.

More than the number of achievements, the culture of self-development which is gaining momentum along with collaborative learning and sharing of knowledge gives a sense of gratification to the department.
