Financial Support

  • NATIONAL MERIT SCHOLARSHIP
This is being awarded to students to provide financial assistance to the meritorious students of rural areas studying in degree andpost-graduate level in colleges and Universities.
Eligibility : Students should have obtained 60% in science stream.
Scholarships will be paid only to those students whose parent’s/guardian’s income from all sources does not exceed Rs.1.00 lakh per annum
Rate of Scholarship: Rs. 500=00 per month for degree students and Rs. 750=00 for PG students.
  • NATIONAL HINDI SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is awarded to students of degree, who take up Hindi as one of their subjects and score highest marks based on their ranking.
Rate of Scholarship: Rs. 500=00 per month for degree students.
  • LANGUAGE SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship is awarded to students who take up any one of the subjects of Kannada, English and Sanskrit as an optional subject and score highest marks on ranking basis.
Rate of Scholarship: Rs. 50=00 per month for degree students.
  • Sir C V RAMAN SCHOLARSHIP
To encourage students to pursue basic science courses from 2001-02 Sir C V Raman scholarships are awarded to meritorious students.
Eligibility: Student should be pursuing degree with any of these as core subjects: chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Physics, Mathematics. Student should have obtained 60% marks in qualifying exam.
Rate of Scholarship: Rs. 5000=00 per year.
  • SANCHI HONNAMMA SCHOLARSHIP
This award has been started in 2003-04 for meritorious girl students studying in Arts & Commerce in government and private aided degree colleges. From  2005-06 this scholarship is extended also to girl students studying science subjects.
Eligibility: Minimum 60% marks in qualifying exam
Rate of Scholarship: Rs. 2000=00 per year
  • POST-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIPS FOR SC/ST STUDENTS FROM GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
 Eligibility:
    Only SC/ST candidates are eligible for the award of these scholarships.
    The parents’ income limit should not exceed Rs. 1.00 lakhs per annum.
    Students who avail the benefit of G.O.I. scholarship in one course are eligible to claim the same benefit for higher studies.
    Students, who are employed, are not eligible.
   
  • STATE POST-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP (GOVERNMENT OF KARNATAKA)
  The award of State Post-Matric scholarship was introduced to enable the students to continue the studies where he / she is not eligible for award of G.O.I. Scholarship.
  Value OF Scholarship: Rs. 400=00 per annum.
Eligibility:
He/she should belong to SC category.
Parents income should not exceed Rs. 12,000.00 per annum.
Students who fail once in degree courses are eligible for state Post-Matric scholarship.
Even 3rd or 4th Male Children of the family are eligible for state Post-Matric scholarship.
  • PRIZE MONEY TO MERITORIOUS STUDENTS FROM DIRECTORATE OF SOCIAL WELFARE, GOVERNMENT OF KARNATAKA

The prize money is given to SC students who secure I class in first attempt in public examinations like Degree/ P.G.courses. The rate of prize money awarded to the students in various courses are as follows.

  •   Degree B.A/ B.Com/ B.Sc     
            Rs. 1000.00
  •   Post Graduation (M.A./ M.Sc/ M.Com)
 Rs. 1250.00 Eligibility:The student must belong to SC / ST community
He / she should secure I class in I attempt, in S.S.L.C. / P.U.C./ Degree/ P.G./ Professional courses.
He / she should be the student of a recognized institution.
There is no income limit for sanction of prize money .
  • POST-MATRIC SCHOLARSHIP FROM MINISTRY OF MINORITY AFFAIRS, GOVERNMENT OF INDIA
This scholarship is awarded for students belonging to minority community (Muslims, Christians, Jains, Budhists, Parsis).
Eligibility: Minimum 50% marks in qualifying exam and the annual income of the parent should not have exceeded 2.00 lakhs.
DISTRIBUTION
Muslims, Sikhs, Christians, Buddhists and Zoroastrians (Parsis) have been notified as minority communities under Section 2 (c) of the National Commission for Minorities Act, 1992. The distribution of scholarship among the States/Union Territories will be made on the basis of population of the above notified minorities in the States/ Union Territories of Census 2001.
EARMARKING FOR GIRL STUDENTS:
30% of scholarship will be earmarked for girl students. In case sufficient number of eligible girl students are not available, then the balance earmarked scholarships may be awarded to eligible boy students.
SELECTION PROCEDURE
Unlike scholarship for SC and ST, there are a fixed number of scholarships for minorities is small and limited. Students from BPL families, having the lowest income shall be given preference in the ascending order. The renewal applications would be fully exhausted before the new applications are considered.
DURATION
Scholarship will be provided for the entire course. However, maintenance allowance will be given for a period not exceeding 10 months only in an academic year.
RATE OF SCHOLARSHIP
Actual financial assistance will be provided for admission & course /tuition fee and maintenance allowance as given below subject to a maximum ceiling indicated against item concerned:
Admission and Tuition fee for UG., PG: Actual subject to a maximum ceiling of Rs. 3,000 p.a.

  • POST GRADUATE INDIRA GANDHI SCHOLARSHIP SCHEME FOR SINGLE GIRL CHILD
IVES
The ives of the proposed scheme are :
a) to support post graduate education of single girl child in non- professional courses only.
b) to recognize the value of observance of small family norm.
TARGET GROUP AND ELIGIBILITY
Target group
The girl students who are admitted to various non-professional PG courses in Universities / Colleges and happen to be the only girl child in the family without having any brother.
Eligibility
Any single girl child of her parents. In a family if one son and one daughter is available then girl child will not be considered for scholarship under the scheme. The scheme is applicable to such a single girl child who has taken admission in regular, full-time 1st year Masters Degree course in any recognized university or a post graduate college. This scholarship is available to PG-I year student only. Admission to PG Course in Distance education mode is not covered under the scheme.
Age: Girl students up to the age of 30 years at the time of admission in PG courses are eligible.
NATURE OF ASSISTANCE AVAILABLE UNDER THE SCHEME
- the number of slots for scholarships available under the schemes are 1200 per year
- It is expected from the institutions where student has taken admission in the first year PG course, no tuition fees will be charged by the institute from girl students to pursue PG degree course in Universities/Colleges/Institutions covered under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act.
- the value of Scholarship is Rs.2,000/- p.m for a period of two years only (10 months in the year) i.e. full duration of a PG course.
- No other additional grant will be payable in lieu of hostel charges and medical
charges etc.
DOCUMENTS TO BE SUBMITTED
1. The candidate is required to submit an application prescribed format;
2. Proof of admission to Ist Year Master’s degree course in a recognized Indian University covered under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act.
3. An affidavit on Rs.50/- Stamp paper from the student/parent duly attested by SDM/First Class Magistrate/Gazetted Officer (not below the rank of Tahsildar) copying the prescribed languages.
4. A certificate from the College/University where student have taken admission to first year PG Course in the current academic year.
  • POST GRADUATE MERIT SCHOLARSHIPSCHEME FOR UNIVERSITY RANKHOLDERS AT UNDER GRADUATELEVEL APPLICABLE
IVES OF THE SCHEME
The ives of the scheme are:
a) to promote and nurture talent;
b) to reward meritorious students with outstanding performance at the Under graduate
level for pursuing postgraduate studies;
c) to Promote study in basic subjects both General as well as Honours atundergraduate level. Professional courses are not covered under the scheme;
d) to build up academic excellence at postgraduate level across the colleges and
universities in the country.
ELIGIBILITY/TARGET GROUP
- While in General Course the First and Second Rank holders at UG level andadmitted in any Postgraduate Course would be awarded the scholarship. In HonoursCourses (Main or Major) the scholarship would be awarded only to the First Rankholders. These awardees will have to submit the proof of their merit position atundergraduate level as well as their admission in postgraduate courses.
- The scholarship would, however, be subjected to securing a minimum of sixty percent marks at undergraduate level.
- The scheme is applicable to such students who have taken admission in regular, fulltimeMaster’s Degree course in any recognized university or a post graduate college.
- The scholarship is available to the student for first PG Degree only. Age limit for thestudents is 30 years at the time of admission in PG course.
- Distance mode of education is not covered under the scheme.

NUMBER OF SCHOLARSHIP AND TENURE OF SCHOLARSHIP
- The total number of scholarships in the first academic year would be 1800 per year
for General Courses and 575 for Honours Courses. The duration of thescholarship will be two years only. The tenure of the scholarship will not beextendable beyond two years, under any circumstances.- The rank holders would be considered only from those universities (includingaffiliated colleges) wherein at least 1000 students have appeared in the examinationin the General courses and 100 in Honours courses at undergraduate level in theaforesaid programmes.
- Degrees awarded by autonomous college are not covered, but these are to beincluded in the affiliating university and a common ranking is to be indicated.
MONITORING / OPERATION OF THE SCHEME
The Scholarship will be awarded by the UGC and will be informed to the concernedUniversities and awardees pursuing Master’s programmes. The selection will be purelymerit based. The scholarship will be disbursed through College/University where theawardees have taken admission in PG Course.
FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE UNDER THE SCHEME
- The financial assistance for the scheme will be provided by the UGC to all theeligible universities/institutions which are under Section 2(f) and 12(B) of UGC Act.
The Universities in turn will be responsible to submit all documents such asStatement of Expenditure and Utilization Certificate etc. to the UGC to settle theaccounts.
- Each awardee, under the scheme, will be provided a scholarship of Rs.2,000/- p.m.
for a period of two years (i.e. 10 months in a year). The second year grant will bereleased after receiving Utilization Certificate and statement of expenditure alongwith the progress report of the first year .
- No other additional grants will be payable in lieu of hostel charges and medicalcharges etc.
OTHER CONDITIONS
- The student who is awarded Post-graduate Scholarship will not be debarred fromaccepting any other scholarship.
- Students desirous of leaving the studies mid-way without completing the PG degreewill have to take prior approval from the UGC by submitting an application along withjustification through the concerned university.
- Any student who discontinues studies without prior approval of the UGC will have torefund the whole amount and the concerned institution will be responsible for this.
- The university/college/institution has to submit a certificate of completion of the PGcourse in respect of each student availing this scholarship.
- No extension is permissible beyond two years.

- Matriculation certificate.
- A verification certificate by the institute where, students has taken admission to IstYear P.G. Course .

  • POST MATRIC SCHOLARSHIPS TOTHE STUDENTS BELONGING TO SCHEDULEDTRIBES FOR STUDIES IN INDIA
This scholarship is awarded for students belonging to Scheduled Tribe.
Eligibility: Minimum 50% marks in qualifying exam and the annual income of the parent should not have exceeded 2.00 lakhs.
VALUE OF SCHOLARSHIP
The value of scholarship includes maintenance allowance, provision forstudents with disabilities, reimbursement of compulsory non-refundable fees, StudyTour Charges, thesis typing/printing charges and book allowance for studentspursuing correspondence courses, for complete duration of the course.
All other courses leading to a graduatedegree e.g.BA/B Sc/B Com etc. will be paid Rs. 570=00 (Hosteller), Rs. 300=00 (Day Scholar) as maintenance allowance per month.
