ABOUT THE LIBRARY

Library in any college is essential in a process of giving students and teachers access to knowledge. The Library provides a gateway for students and researchers to access various resources both in print and digital.  The Government First Grade College, Malleshwaram Library was established in the year 2007, with a vision to provide state-of-the-art information environment and to  support academic activities by providing an ideal learning and researching facility to the library users viz., faculty, students, alumni, professionals etc. The Library housekeeping services are automated since 2017, through Easylib Professional Software. This software helps in providing uninterrupted library services through its dynamic modules such as Bar-code,  Circulation,  Catalogue/accessioning, Membership Management, Acquisition Management, Feedback, Stock verification, Periodicals, Reports, and OPAC.

The library consists of various subject oriented books mainly Arts, Science, Commerce and Management, besides general reference works such as encyclopaedias, dictionaries etc are also available. The Library houses over 17971 print volumes. The Library provides services such as library orientation, circulation, OPAC (Open Public Access Catalogue) to facilitate resource searching and current awareness service.

Empowering students to become critical seekers of information and ideas. To explore and implement innovative technologies and services to deliver information and scholarly resources conveniently to users anytime/anyplace and  promoting the ethical use of information and technology.

 

LIBRARY RULES GUIDELINES

 

1.All personal belongings, such as books, bags, coat/jersey, umbrella, personal files, Xerox material that does not belong to the library must be placed in the rack/counter provided at the entrance of the library. 

2.Identity Card is compulsory for getting access to the library.

3.Only note books and pen/pencil are allowed for making notes inside the library. 

4.Faculty and students are requested to sign in the Library visitors Register or   Computer in/out Entry Register. 

5.Place the books, news papers, magazines, Journals etc on the table/rack after completion of reading. 

6.Maintain silence in the Library & keep your mobile phone in silent mode. 

7.Do not carry eatables into the library premises. 

8.Users should avoid resting their feet on tables, chairs, shelves, window sills. 

9.Do Follow the queue while issuing/Returning of Books (first come, first serve) 

10.Borrowed/Loaned Books must returned renewed on or before the due date otherwise penalty will be charged.

11.Borrowed Books should be protected from RAIN, DUST, INSECTS, etc.

12.Mutilation and disfiguring of pages of library materials by ink or pencil marks are prohibited. 

13.The student should obtain No-Dues Certificate from the library after returning of all library books/documents; before the commencement of examination EVEN semester     end OR at the time of admission to ODD (Third/Fifth) semester and surrender the borrowers cards after completion of course/Living the college/Transfer to other college.    

14.Please do co-operate with the above rules and maintain discipline.
