Government First Grade College K.R.Sagara

About Us

     Government First Grade College KR Sagara was established during 2007 by the Government of Karnataka with an aim to provide quality higher education to students of Rural Areas and disadvantageous sections of the society in and around Krishnarajasagara and presently it is in its 15th year of functioning.  The institution is located in the village of Krishnarajasagara, which is around 18 kms from Mysuru.

     The college is functioning in tis own building since 2015 sharing the common campus with Govt Higher Primary School and Govt Pre-University College.  The college is affiliated to the University of Mysore and is presently offering BA and  B Com Programs under NEP 2020 from the academic year 2021-22. 

     With an ive to provide quality education to the rural students, the college is equipped with ICT enabled classrooms, Auditorium, Library  with more than 8000 books, facility for both indoor and outdoor games, Disabled friendly campus etc so as to cater to the needs of students located in villages around Krishnarajasagara. 

      Krishnarajasagara is a well known place of  tourist attraction because of the existence of KRS Dam, Brindavan Garden and several temples of historical importance. The demography of the village belong to economically backward sections since majority of them have come here during early 1900 as labour force for construction of KRS Dam.  Tourism and farming is the main source of revenue for the people of this village.

     The College presently has a strength of 127 students pursueing UG courses in Arts and Commerce Streams.  Majority of the students are female and they are the first generation literates in their families.  It’s a challenging task for all our Teaching and Non-Teaching Staff to make our students a good and productive citizens.  All; our staff have dedicated themselves, to achieve this goal.
