| Krishnarajapete is at a distance of 60 kms from Mandya , the sugar city of Karnataka. This town formely known as “Attiguppe “ was infact named as Krishnarajapete in memory of His Highness Sri Krishnraja Wodeyar IV in 1891. It was under the reign of many rulers of South India such as Hoyasalas, the Vijayanagar empire, the Gangas and the Wodeyars of Mysore and hence has gained archeological as wekk as historical importance. Infact the temples in the villages such as Hosaholalu, Kikkeri, Sindhagatta around Krishnarajapete stand as a testimony to its past history. The tough and hard terrain of Krishnarajapete was the root cause for the migration of rural masses to distant places, in search of education and employment. Further, the lack of vision of the local representatives with regard to the development of higher education added to the hardship of the people. At some stage when the need for higher education was felt, many persons contributed directly or indirectly, to the cause of education. |
| The college was started in a wing belonging to the Government Pre- University College which was later shifted to Government buildings of Hemavathi River project, Department of Irrigation , Karnataka. Despite its shortcomings , the students strength increased in the course of time and this necessitated more class rooms and better infrastructure. With the construction of the new building with a sprawling campus of 4.13 acres in the year 2008, the college saw an innovative future in terms of infrastructure and excellence. Academic excellence is the corner stone of our college. Several measures and initiatives are taken and implemented for the overall development of the students through co-curricular and extra-curricular activities. Academics is not only made a mere mechanical process but is a experiential journey to the students by the institution. The college has experienced faculties with a high profile who help in increasing the quality of higher education, instilling leadership quality and developing employment skills among the students. The college library has ample number of quality books such as encyclopedias, journals Magazines. The College had organized a national seminar on “Current Development Trends: Issues and Concern” in May 2013 ,which had a rare opportunity of interaction of eminent academicians of different fields on a common platform. The institution has a long standing contribution to the society for the development of men and women who in turn contribute to the society in the field of art, literature, academics etc. With the constant efforts of the college staff and the local community the institution offers and always aims to improve its quality of services keeping in mind the need of the newer generations.
At the same time credit, due credit should be given to the various committees viz. IQAC committee, cultural committee, NSS Committee , sports committee that have been in existence and have strived for the effective overall development of the college. Various clubs and forums of the departments provide abundant opportunities to bring out the inner talents. The achievements of sports and cultural events are a reflection of this.
Above all, the institution instills in the students deep sense of ethics, which when coupled with their inner talents will transform them in socially responsible and productive citizens. Indeed the college has many miles to go with higher aims, achievements and it is the responsibility of all the stake holders to work hand in hand for its overall development. |
