About Department

The Government First Grade College, KR Nagar established its Post Graduate Department of Social Work in the year 2011. The Department offers Master of Social Work (MSW), two-years full time programmes affiliated to University of Mysore, Mysuru. It aims to develop competent social work professionals who combine a strong theoretical foundation with a unique and sound practical experience. The Department is committed to providing students with the essential scientific knowledge and skills needed to work in the field of social work, it’s also actively engaged in preparing students for social work practice with individuals, families, groups, organizations and communities. It has four qualified teachers along with well-equipped classrooms with LCD Projectors/interactive smart board and audio device.  The faculty members are actively involved in guiding students research projects and carrying research activities at the department. They also engage in consultation work to Non-Government Organisations and Panchayats. The Department has adopted five Grama Panchayats of KR Nagar Taluka which are Hebbalu, Chandagalu, Hampapur, Hosagrahara, and Siddapura. With the help of local authorities, the department is carrying out outreach activities such as skill development, awareness programmes, promotion of sanitation and eco-friendly practices, educational progremmes, improving study habits of school children, and government services to needy one.
