Principal Message

It is my great pleasure to welcome you to Govt First Grade College, Koppal, which is entering into the 20th academic year of its existence. As every long journey starts with a small step, our college had been started with a very limited profile two decades ago. Now it has grown into one of the prestigious institutions in the region. New courses have been introduced over the years and there has been a steady increase in the strength of the students. At present eleven undergraduate courses are available in the college. More than 2000 students hailing mostly from the rural areas are studying in the college. Moreover, it is heartening to inform that the majority of students are girls.

Apart from academic excellence, the institution has gone a long way in achieving excellence in extracurricular activities with the help of the NCC, N.S.S, Rovers and Rangers, Sports, Cultural Forum, Red Cross, Placement Cell, Skill development activities and other student friendly endeavours, well equipped laboratories, library, classrooms, auditoriums and the vast playground have helped the students to achieve excellence, both in curricular and extracurricular activities.

The Government has been giving various incentives to the students in the form of scholarships, fee reimbursement, free laptop scheme, free hostels, free bus pass and so on. Thus, the journey of this institution, from a very humble beginning to the present position, is really a pleasant experience. This growth is made possible due to the constant support of the parents, the alumni, the teachers, the students, the CDC. The department of Collegiate Education and all the principals and teachers who had served have contributed a lot for the progress of this institution. I remember all those who have made a positive contribution to this institution over the years and well come all those who would like to join this college with the intention of growing themselves and thereby let the institution grow.
