| Holenarasipura Taluk is a small town located on the bank of river Hemavathi. This region is predominantly rural and most of its people are peasants. Naturally, the younger generation of this area has a tendency to engage itself in farming sector and women especially find it difficult to escape agricultural chores. Therefore the rural women of this region were badly in need of higher education. Owing to the great effort of Department of Collegiate Education and Sri H.D.Revanna, the honorable legislative member who is also the chairman of the College Development Council, this institution was established during the academic year 2006-07. The college has different stakeholders in the form of media persons, lawyers, educationists. These people along with the able and efficient administration and leadership of the principal of the college look after the overall developments of this budding institution. Government First Grade College for Women, Holenarasipura is one of the premier institutions in the district of Hassan. It is surrounded by greenery and situated on the banks of river Hemavathi at a distance around 33 Km from district head quarters Hassan. It has a green lush campus with a land area of around 3.36 acres and built up area of 3666.0 sq.m. Spread over 3 blocks comprising academic facilities like 45 classrooms, 4 laboratories, 2 administrative rooms, two seminar hall, 4 rooms for support services, 2 library halls & reference sections It was established in 2006 and affiliated to Mysore University to impart education to the economically & socially backward communities of the region. The College began with the following programmes: B.A., B.Sc., B.Com, B.B.A, & PG Courses such as MA in (Economics, Kannada) & M.Com, Women Studies, M.Lib. Science. The students' strength of the college increased from 160 to 1400 in a span of 16 years. Most of the students of our college are SC, ST and backward communinities. The college has adequate land area to develop its infrastructure with all amenities - academic and physical in coming years. It is governed by the Department of Collegiate Education, Govt. of Karnataka. The college has obtained UGC recognition under 2(f) since 18-06-2013 and it was accredited B+ with a CGPA of 2.61 by NAAC in February 2017.
