| GOVERNMENT FIRST GRADE COLLEGE FOR WOMEN, HASSAN is one of the prestigious institution of semi-malnad region of the Hassan District. It was started on 21st June 2006. There have been many institutions of higher education in and around Hassan. Most of them are run by Government and Private Managements. In the beginning B.A , B.Com, BBM and B.Sc., classes were started in few rooms of District Training Institution locality, M.G.Road, Hassan. Later in the year 2007-08 the college was shifted to a new building with well ventilated and spacious lecture halls, Library, Sports Ground and well equipped laboratories. | At present it is housed in four storied building in heart of the town. The College catering to the women educational needs of economically and socially backward sections of Hassan and Neighbouring Taluks. At present, the college is a centre for UG(BSc,BCA,BA,BBA,BCom) and PG(M.Com,MA(Economics),MA(Kannada)) ,affiliated to the University of Mysore, It is to be noted that the college today has an excellent name in women education. Along with these member a group of guest faculty also engaging the task of educating the rural background students. Beside a troop of non teaching faculties is working for the need of our learners. | | Certainly the college could boast of high student population and good academic performance. Adequate funding by the Government, the qualitative support by the University, the participation of the College Development Council and other local bodies have sustained the growth of the College.
