| Government Home Science college was established in the year 2007 with the goal of inculcating education in the field of Home Science for the rural and urban students. The institution is affiliated to prestigiousUniversityof Mysore, Karnataka.The Institution is one of the leading Home Science Colleges in Karnataka. The college began functioning in small room of N.E. Basic Primary school, Rangolli Halla, Hassan. Now college has four storied building with well equipped Class rooms, Science and Computer laboratories. The library is having nearly 5193 books. The college currently offers Bachelor degrees in Unique subjects of Home Science such as Food Science and Nutrition, Family Resource Management, Human development along with basic Science and Arts Subjects, BCA and B.COM. The number of programmes running in the college among CBSC system are B.Sc3, B.A-2, B.Com and B.C.A. Under NEP the programmes are B.Sc -3, B.A.-2, B.Com and B.C.A The college is governed by the Department of Higher Education of Karnataka and University of Mysore. The college is included under 2(f) norms in the year 2012 as per the UGC Act. The institution is situated in the heart of the Hassan city which is a Semi Malnad region with the campus area of 1.75 acres. College enjoys a locational advantage and connectivity through a variety of public transport Systems.The College although situated in the urban locality it caters to majority of the rural, marginalised and the sub-urban student population. Various Committees of the college organizes programmes which are beneficial to both students and society. Apart from curricular programme the Institution also conducts various extra-curricular activities which help in overall development of the students through Sports, NSS, Youth Red Cross Society, Cultural and Scouts and Guides units. The students have won medals in state, National and International level sports. One of the students represented Karnataka state in youth parliament, New Delhi.
