ABOUT NCC

National Cadet Corps in the college plays a pivotal role in shaping the character of students by infusing the values of patriotism, service, discipline and hard work. The infantry Company of NCC functioning in the college is Senior Division and Senior Wing cadets. Cadets enrolled are given institutional training and can participate in adventure activities, community development programmes, various national level and annual training camps, youth exchange programmes, sports and cultural activities and the rest. The Army wing NCC Company in the college comes under the5KAR Battalion chikkaballapura .

The Aims of NCC :

 To develop character, comradeship, discipline, leadership, secular outlook, spirit of adventure, sportsmanship and ideals of selfless service among the youth of the country.

 To create a human resource of organized, trained and motivated youth, to provide leadership in all walks of life and always be available for the service of the nation.

 To provide a suitable environment to motivate the youth to take up a career in the Armed Forces.

Brief History of NCC:

NCC was conceived in the year 1917 when India Defence Act was promulgated with an of making up the shortfalls in the Armed Forces by raising the University Corps. In 1920, with the passage of India Territorial Act, University Corps was replaced by University Training Corps. In 1942, this Corps was rechristened as the University Officers Training Corps. In 1946, a committee under Pandit H N Kunzru was set up at the behest of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru to formulate the establishment of an organisation capable of training and motivating the youth of the country to become the best citizens and leaders in all walks of life. Accordingly, the National Cadet Corps came into being on July 16,1948 with the promulgation of the NCC Act XXXI of 1948. The NCC was and now, placed under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India.

NCC @ GFGC DEVANAHALLI

NCC at GFGC started in 2018, it is affiliated to 5 KAR Bn NCC,Chikkaballapura , Bangalore ‘B’ Group, Karnataka and Goa Directorate. NCC Cadets are selected by the officers from the unit, 5 KAR Bn NCC, by conducting physical fitness test. Parades is conducted for four hours on every Saturday to the enrolled cadets, without disturbing the regular course of study of the students. Practical classes and theory classes are conducted and various activities like drill, weapon training and theory classes on military subjects are conducted during the parade days by the Associate NCC Officer, LT Dr Krishna Murthy N P and Parade Instructor.
