SWOC ANALYSIS

STRENGTH

    • Location/Accessibility-the College is located very close to the bus stand on the main Highway.

    • The College operates in its own building with adequate number of classrooms.

    • The college attracts a large number of students-over 700 students, a rare feat for a college located in a rural area.

    • More than 70% of our students are girls-and girls generally fare well in academics and are serious and dedicated to studies.

    • Almost all the students hail from socially and economically backward communities and so have a burning desire in them to excel in academics in the hope of attaining a better standard of living.

    • The College is the leading college of the Taluk in terms of number of programs offered, student strength, high pass percentage and so on.

    • The college has well qualified staff who have the necessary academic qualifications with them viz NET and SLET.

    • The college also has 4 teachers who have been awarded PhDs and 4 more teachers who are currently pursuing PhDs. The teachers are involved in continuous Professional Education.

    • The College has a well-stocked library catering to the programs in Humanities and Commerce and Management.

    • The college has a functioning Computer lab with about 30 machines to enable the digital learning and digital fluency of the rural area students.

    • The college has a good governance/administration set up and a dedicated non-teaching staff

    • 2F and 12B recognition by UGC.

    • Active NSS, Youth Red Cross, Rovers and Rangers units. 

WEAKNESS

  • The college is located in a backward, hot and dry rural area.

  • The pre-university academic accomplishment of our students is below or about the average.

  • Particularly challenging is the very low ability levels of our students in reading/writing/communicating in English.

OPPORTUNITIES

  • The college is situated in rural area so the institution has an opportunity to provide quality education to financially and socially underprivileged students.

  • Considering the rural mix of our students there is scope for introduction of more combinations and more skill-based programs.

  • The large number of girls’ students affords us the opportunity to contribute to enhancing girl power and Women empowerment.

  • Students are from rural background and have burning desire for learning so it is an opportunity for the institution to offer ADD on Courses.

  • Dedicated faculty of the institution gives an opportunity to implement mentor system effectively.

  • More student strength of the college gives an opportunity to run the units like NSS, Rangers and Rovers, Red Ribbon Club and many more such units which channelize youth power into productive and creative works. 

CHALLENGES

  • The Students-Teacher ratio is 100:1.The College is in need of more number of permanent teachers in order to effectively carry out the academic activities.

  • The reluctance of the students to study extra reading materials like suggested and reference books etc.

  • The reluctance of the students to study authoritative and quality original books published in English

  • The absence of a regular full time Computer Science professional to run the computer lab effectively has hampered the digital learning levels of our students.

  • The absence of a regular full time Librarian is impeding the effective discharge of the library functions and activities.

  • The absence of a Physical Education Director is impacting the holistic development of the students.
